We just had our post-Valentine's Day concert. It was big hit even though we did one week after the V-day. Come to think of it, it was one hell of a performance to remember.
The concert was in full swing. The other bands did their part well, the crowd was already in a frenzy. We were about to perform then. K-san was barking orders at the lightsmen. Sakano-san was going into a fit. Suguru was concentrating hard in a corner, maybe he was doing breathing exercises already. Shuichi, being exuberant as always, was bouncing up and down, telling me about their Valentine's date that involved uhmm.. strawberry shortcake and a Madonna song. *coughs*
"Do I look good, Hii-chan? Do you think Yuki will like my outfit?" He was wearing that belly-dancer outfit. It was made of a flimsy, black material that clung to his lithe body. It left a large expanse of his torso bare but was complemented by a billowing skirt. The look was completed with lots of bangles, tassels, and a veil.
Don't fret Shu, you look very, very nice. I say so. I said to him with a wink.
The lights went out, signaling our cue. As always, adrenaline coursed through my veins as I heard the audience's deafening screams. We positioned ourselves on the stage. I gave Shuichi and Suguru a nod.
Shuichi shouted to the crowd,
"Are you ready for Bad Luck!!!" The crowd roared back its assent.Shuichi continued,
"It would be a great pleasure for me to announce our special guest who agreed to grace our stage. Please welcome, Ms. Tomiko Van!" More screams came. K-san was brilliant to invite her. She was a good performer and dazzled the crowd. We did a couple of songs with her and the audience loved it. We thanked her after that and the next set we were on our own.
We did the old songs. We were happy that the crowd still dig Rage Beat, Spicy Marmalade and the others. After the first two sets, Shuchi announced,
"As a special treat for you people, the next and the last song that we will perform tonight will be incuded in our upcoming album so please watch out for it!!!!!" I saw K-san and Sakano-san both giving us a thumbs-up sign. That was deciding moment if the crowd would like our new material.
"Ready Shu?", I asked. He flashed me a quick grin then sang the opening line. It was electrifying. I could tell that Shuichi was really inspired that time. I quickly scanned the sea of faces until I found a familiar face and the reason why Shu was giving his all in that song.
" Ah, kare ga iru..", I mused. Eiri was at his usual place at the back of the crowd, isolating himself.
It was that moment that an inspiration struck me.
Why not spice up the night? It had a dance-pop beat. Suguru's fingers were practically dancing across his keyboard and Shuichi worked the crowd into a frenzy that almost all of them were dancing. And since guitars are almost muted for dance beats, I went to Shu and whispered..
"Do you remember the old days when there was just the two of us?"I licked the top of his left ear sliding down then nibbled at the lobe for the briefest time. The crowd went crazy. Shuichi's eyes literally bulged and then, he gave me an oh-so-wicked grin. We sang together the chorus and when the time came for my guitar solo, I slung my guitar over him (think of Shuichi between me and my guitar) and then we gyrated to the rhythm. That moment I really felt we were transported back in time when we were just starting and trying our luck to find our niche. I smiled at the nostalgia as we ended our song.
Shuichi shouted,
"Goodnight folks and thank you! See you at next album launch!"I added,
"Hai, please do come if you want to see more of this."And I kissed Shuichi full on the lips. The audience gave us a tumultuous applause as I gestured to Suguru to come up front and gave our final bow.
Backstage. People were all over us offering their congratulations and a party afterwards. Maiko-chan came bounding at us.
"That was a good show guys! They love you! And oh, Shu, I saw Eiri-san going out before the last song. I was supposed to go after him but then I stopped because he had such a muderous look in his eyes..."
"Oh no, Yuki!!! Hiii-chan!!!! Explain it to him! I don't wanna lose him!!! I love him!!!!!!!!" Shu was hugging my knee already.
"Just say to him that if he didn't know what was that all about, tell him that I said, "Grow up, Eiri." And, I'm not interested in kendo matches." Current Mood:
